I just had an eye checkup, you know, where they dump Those Drops in your eyes. Wow did those mess things up -- I can barely see my monitor, let alone my own fingernails. And being outside ... !! Yow.
I didn't ask how long the drops last, so this afternoon should be kind of interesting.

Summer hours
During the summer, my workplace lets people work longer days Monday through Thursday if they want part of, or all of, Friday off. I'm doing half-day Fridays, and it's amazing how nice it is to have Friday afternoon off.
I am a little sleepy at the end of the week from the extra hours, but it's worth it!

The walk out of World's End
Pretty hill, isn't it?

On our way out of the park, we always walk up this hill. Sure, there are other paths that go around it. But you just have to walk up the hill. It's part of the experience.
How many steps does it take to walk up there? Let's ask Tom!

There's one hundred ...

... two hundred ...

... and three hundred!
In addition to the welcome shady trees, there's a cool but distant view of the city skyline from up there.

Definitely worth the three hundred steps!

Monday holiday
Tom and I kept cool yesterday by going to a great park south of the city, World's End.
I love it because it has so many kinds of habitats in a small peninsula -- salt marshes, woods, green meadows, and coast. All kinds of birds everywhere. Plus since you're surrounded by the harbor, you get a great breeze.
We walk the length of the peninsula and head toward the rocky beach at the end.

The beach is my favorite part, really.
Tom likes the shade.

But I like to wade.
This is me cooling off my legs in the water.

This is me after spotting a crab right next to my feet.

Pretty, isn't he?
Given how warm it was, I really wanted to soak my back. Tom couldn't believe I would do such a thing, but come on -- doesn't this look fun?

I tried to persuade Tom to try it, but he wasn't remotely tempted. He preferred dryer activities.

We both enjoyed ourselves in our own ways (though my backside was a lot cooler than his for the walk back!).
