After dark

Chilled out at another Waterfire event.

All the tunnel walkways had these chandeliers flickering away, a very cool effect.

There weren't as many other things going on at this Waterfire as the last one, but the fires after dark were still very mellowing.

I refrained from buying a large bag of kettle corn on the way out of town.

Taking advantage of sunny weekends

Tom and I had a restful afternoon in Rockport recently. Unlike a lot of summer weekends we've had this year, this one was perfect for being outside near the sea.

It was nice to be lazy, too.

We had dinner at a restaurant with an outdoor upstairs patio with this view.

I love it up there!

An afternoon in "Habitat"

We found this place just a town away from where we live -- I was amazed I'd not heard of it until recently. It's a really great preserve, spacious, lots of walking trails -- and with map labels like "Turtle Pond" and "Troll Bridge".

Troll Bridge was only silly, however -- just a plank over a shallow little dip. Would have to be a tiny troll hiding under it.

We liked the look of this bridge much better.

There were lots of critters to be seen, and it was an exceptionally nice day out.

This guy made an impressive amount of noise, too.

There were a lot of happy birds of all different sizes and colors. It was great to just stand still and watch for a few minutes and see who flew by.

I recommend the place.
