On the Cliff Walk

The weather was so nice that we had to go on Newport's famous Cliff Walk -- which we had done once before, but we were in less of a hurry this time.

It was a crisp, sunny, windy day. There was a gorgeous refreshing ocean breeze, and that along with the warmth of the sun ... well, it was a very satisfying stroll.

Toldya it was windy!

My favorite spot along this walk is what I think of as "the rumbling rocks". The beach there is covered with fist-sized pebbles, and when the surf retreats, all the rocks rattle together. It sounds like a huge set of maracas -- loud and very deep.

Anyone familiar with the walk probably knows where I mean ...

See where the path disappears into a tunnel in the distance? It's shadowy but it's there.

And to the left is this view (did I mention there are mansions nearby?).

It was really great to just sit and listen to the water rattle the rocks. Very relaxing.

So was walking around on the boulders.

It was that kind of day!
