After the gigantic heap of sweets we got at Christmas time -- which we only finished up in early March -- AND the gigantic heap of (awesome!) cookies we had recently (baked by Tom himself!), it was pretty clear that if the Easter Bunny (that would be ME) delivered the usual assortment of jelly beans and chocolate eggs, Tom was going to curl up in a ball on the floor and howl (well, he didn't say so in so many words. But I know that's what he meant).
So, the Easter Bunny went for a change of pace this year. Things in the "basket" this year included wine crackers, red pepper tapenade, and cheeses like cranberry wensleydale and a really nice sharp gouda. I also threw in a couple bags of these ginger chews that I really love (which are probably horrendous for your teeth because they're so chewy, but so far so good).
Tom approved of my choices, so maybe his sweet tolerance will return to normal soon. Anyway, we ended up feasting on many of "Easter" items tonight at supper, and it was all really tasty.

wait, last time you said the cookies didn't make a very big batch.
ReplyDeletethe peanut ginger chews are even better.
good chocolate bunnies still available (here) at 50% off, and freeze well for later. :)
Ah, the *chocolate* cookies didn't make a big batch. However, there were two subsequent batches of oatmeal cranberry walnut cookies that were astoundingly delicious! Mmmm ...
ReplyDeleteFrozen chocolate bunnies ... hmm ...
